The latest issue of Sophia. the Journal of the Eparchy of Newton of the Melkites, also highlights the June 10th 25th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood of Hieromonk Philaret (Littlefield) of the Eparchy of Newton of the Melkites.

Hieromonk Philaret is presently pastor of St George Melkite Church in Milwaukee, WI, where he has been assigned since 1995. He is also the current Protopresbyter of the Eparchy's Great Lakes Region. Previously, he had served as Hegumen of the former Melkite Eparchial Monastery of Our Saviour in Steubenville, OH and as pastor of both Holy Resurrection and Holy Trinity Melkite Churches in Columbus and Zanesville, OH, respectively. Prior to ordination, he had been an active member of the monastic community in Steubenville.

Father Hieromonk Philaret is well-known as a teacher and a beloved pastor, who has shepherded each of the parishes that he has served in a truly caring and spiritually uplifting way. Please remember him in your prayers, that God may grant him many more years of fruitful and fulfilling service to Him and His people.
