I thought this was pretty neat...

Advice on How to Sin:

•indulge in unbridled spiritualty
•be greedy in mercy
•be mean in backbiting
•slander wickedness
•be lavish with forgiveness
•be avaricious for holiness
•be lazy in quarrelling
•be libellous of evil thoughts
•mock your pride
•be hateful of injustice
•be disobedient to temptation
•be unfaithful in sin
•be unforgiving of the devil
•be angry with vengeance
•be intolerant of your inhospitality
•rebel against temptations
•be boastful of the virtues of others
•be stubborn in keeping the right faith
•be tepid towards acedia
•be incompetent in lust
•be unstable in the practice of bad habits
•be embarrassed to confess falsehood
•be greedy of the virtues
•become addicted to detachment
•be an extremist in meekness
•betray your passions
•be inattentive to rage
•be covetous of everlasting life

Sinful indeed some of these things may be (some of them sound like virtues) but they might also, in the situations of certain people, be behaviours or ways of thinking originating from some mental illness or another; or caused by bad example in childhood.

Mental illness and/or bad example can diminish or erase moral guilt altogether.

God Himself might be guilty of one of them: being lavish with and rich in mercy and compassion. Knowing we are but dust, He cuts us a lot of slack. And we ought to do the same with those who offend or damage us. Not easy...
