Little information about the community, but the site just started this month.

Thanks, Tom,

It will be interesting to watch its development. Most of the text currently posted - once you get beyond the description of where the Old Believers can currently be found - is copied from elsewhere (I recognize some text as verbatim). Most of the photos, however, are new to my eye. I can't quite decide, but I'm leaning toward thinking that it's a bespopovotsy (priestless) site, but I can't say for certain - what's your impression?

Many years,

Neil

I can't say for certain either. Some photos show priested ceremonies and others appear to be from priestless sites. I have written to the blog author and asked him for more information on his Russian Old Believer community.

I don't have any recollection of a bezpopovtsy presence in Romania, only Belokrinitsy and Novozybkovtsy.

Another recently-created Old Rite resource is the староверы Липоване YouTube channel. There are a number of excellent liturgical videos available.

Did anyone notice the ironic photo of the OB woman in head scarf and 19th century kaftan using a cell phone?

The woman is wearing a sarafan. Kaftan is male dress.

I like the photo of the clergy on the steps of the Pokrovsky Cathedral with the acolytes wearing felonchiky. smile

I received a response from the author/owner of this blog. She wrote:

We are popovtsy. We don't have a community here in BC because of this we made this blog so we can find more orthodox old believers so we can make a community . We know like 10 + families of old believers orthodox.

We moved in 2008 from Montreal there are old believers but they don't have a community there. We are thinking to go to visit the old believers community from Oregon.
