Quite a moving ceremony. It's well worth watching the Youtube videos for the chant alone.

How do you say Mnohaya Lita in Greek?

Does it matter? I think he needs to get used to Mnohaya L'ita!

Our prayers for the faithful of ACROD, and may God grant Archimandrite Grigorios many happy, healthy and blessed years in Christ's vineyard!

I think the more critical phrase that he needs to learn is "Go Steelers!" (Fr. Grigorios is an avowed Panthers fan.)

Excepting for the fact that most of us to the east of State College would either say Go Giants, Go Eagles or Go Redskins! Gotta stay away from sports teams in politics you know! wink

To me it is sad that the Carpatho-Rusyns could not find a candidate from their own ranks.

They had two but the OCA got them, Bishops Michael and Matthias.

Not everybody in ACROD is of Carpatho-Rusyn ancestry anymore. Just like in most of the Churches of the Byzantine tradition, they, too, are moving beyond ethnic boundaries. Which I applaud.

Parishes will now serve holupki made from grape leaves - no more kapusta.

Pavloosh,

You have it all wrong!

Greeks also make stuffed cabbage ("lahanodolmades"), as do Arabs, Romanians, Serbs, Bulgarians and Albanians. Rather than being a point of division, all Orthodox jurisdictions in America have stuffed cabbage as a rallying point.

I've already proposed an educational series entitled "Stuffed Cabbage: Unity in Diversity" to the Assembly of Bishops, but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Fr David,

OLTV would CERTAINLY be interested in putting together the educational program you suggest -- I certainly love halupki (and know how to make it myself, Carpatho-Rusyn style!), and love to promote unity among pan-ethnic Orthodox and Catholic churches. If we could get a group of women to make them according to their tradition, showing the unity yet diversity among us, why not?! I think it could virile on YouTube! And we all know Church unity will come from the laity -- why not from food?! smile
