And to complement the Orthodox England link, look for the book Lives of the New Martyrs by Ivan Andreyev. This book came out in 1982 and is wonderful. It even has the life of Metropolitan Iosif of Petrograd who was not recognized by the MP.

Thank you for this lead. I don't know why they did not give the title of the book either. But since I enjoy research I will try to track it down.

The article says the book is published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana, but I have not been able to find it on its website.

gc,

I likewise had no luck with any of the Vatican sites, amazon, abebooks, or albris.

In thinking about this, I'm guessing that we're all presuming that the book was published in English - not necessarily, I suspect even unlikely. Perhaps our resident reviewer of the written word, Adam Deville, or our resident purveyor of the same, Jack Figel, might be able to use their insights into and connections in the publishing world to find out a bit more info.

Many years,

Neil

Received via email with request to post here:

The book is listed on the Vatican webite (vatican.va) on the right go to Vatican Publishing House, then Catalogue, on the bottom is ‘Index of Titles.’ The book is listed under, "Fede e Martirio. Le Chiese orientali Cattoliche nell' del Europa '900" seems it was only printed in Italian. Also, you can Google the Italian title, found: http://www.paxbook.com/algorithmiS/servusPrimus?iussum=monstraScriptumEditum&numerus=29949

Thanks to one and all for the lead. Perhaps with a little Latin and a little French I can get some rough translation of some of it once I have the time to pursue this.

It's mostly in Italian, but some of the conference articles (from 1998) are in English. There are also more than a hundred pages of material reproduced from the Vatican archives.

Title page and table of contents:

Through the prayers of the holy martyrs, O Christ our God, have mercy on us!
