The Eastern churches have venerable fasting traditions which originate in Apostolic times. The Didache speaks about the Wednesday and Friday fasts, for example. It would be inconsistent with Tradition to add a new kind of fast like the one you mention. The Church has already dveloped and decided how and when to fast. What you propose, I dare say, would be more in line with the innovations commonly found in Western Christianity.
