If you were a separate user group to recognize that you were Eastern Catholic, would you rather be a distinctly Catholic group to ID that you are Catholic or an Eastern Christian group to ID all who are Eastern (Orthodox, Assyrian) there with you?

Thanks

Which would be a preference on an RC forum
single choice

This was a difficult question to answer. I chose the former (Catholic) because I think it important that the Latin Catholics learn they do not have a monopoly on Catholicism; but, I would like to have chosen the latter because of the similarities, ie, Divine Liturgy, focus on the Early Church Fathers, general way of thinking (if that makes any sense).
Oh, why can't we just reunify and end all this nonsense!

We cannot 'just reunify (sic) and end all this nonsense' because it would result in our being drowned in a sea of Latinism. The end result: a statistically insignificant increase in the number of "Catholics" bought at the price of the annihilation of the Eastern Christian Tradition, which I consider not just the other half of Christianity but the better half! Thanks, but no thanks! Long live Rudyard Kipling: East is East and West is West and NEVER the twain shall meet. Well, maybe after the Parousia!

Gosh, Isa and I would probably view ending the Great Schism as prompting a five fold increase in the number of "Catholics" worldwide. wink
