I put a picture of Santo Nino de Cebu in my mother's room in her seniors' residence with a table-top flag of the Philippines. The Filipina assistants there (two of whom speak fluent Ukrainian, would you believe) are VERY nice and warm towards her.

So much so that she now wears a flag-pin of the Philippines and when people ask her, she tells them, "I am a Filipina!"

What a brilliant Catholic culture you have and I will attend our annual Sinulog festival where I now understand are copies of Santo Nino.

I bow to you, sir!

Mabuhay Ang Filipinas!

Good evening, Alex!

It's been quite a long time since I've been here, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to say hello and offer my solidarity in prayer for your recovery and an increase in good health and well-being. Hope you are doing well, dear friend.

You and everyone here, especially those asking for intercession, are in my poor prayers. If you return the favour for me, we all win. smile

Your Holiness, Catholicos Mor Ephrem!!

How wonderful to see you here after all this time!

Let's pray for one another and I thank you for your kindness!

I understand you are formally a Deacon now? (Or a priest?)

Of course, years back, when we consecrated you a Catholicos, you really did jump the queue!

Just a question, is the Horologion you have from India of any use to you?

Cheers,

Alex

Is the Catholicos a beekeeper? (Apiculturalist, for Stuart)

The bee's sting is only .0237 of an inch long - the other two feet are one's imagination.

Sorry that's the best I could do at this time . . .

Alex,

How are you feeling? This thread was initiated for your health, so I thought I would ask.

God bless,
Alice

Hi Alex,

I would've PMed, but I don't seem to be able to figure it out.

That Horologion gets daily use except during Great Lent. When I was in seminary, I left that volume in our chapel, and it was raptured off before Pascha. I had no choice but to learn the original languages in order to get through the next Lent. Now I'm comfortable with all three languages. Funny how life works!

I'll try not to make it another five years before I check back in (the last time I was here, we were still in the Bush Administration!). smile

Thanks for you, and for your prayers.

Hello Mother Alice!

My foot has healed completely and I'm basically pain-free for the first time in many months.

I thank you and everyone here for your prayers. The Prayer Forum here is one of the best kept secrets of the Church. Anyone who has tried it knows that God answers the prayers in His own way. I'm very happy that He does not intend me to live with pain, although I would deserve it, if it came to that.

Prayer is possible even during the most excruciating, continuing pain. It is one of the greatest tests one can go through. God teaches us to rely on Him completely and to wait for His healing. He also wants us to be with Him continually and let us know how important that is for our lives.

Being here on this Forum for a bit has been good for me. But now that the clouds have cleared, I can't stay because I have stayed here before for unspiritual reasons. No one needs to hear my babbling and I certainly don't need to sin with pride and other sins by posting my nonsense.

I will post some akathists though. smile

Thank you, once again.

Alex

Dear Alex,

I am so glad that you are feeling better! I am also happy that the forum served as an uplifting pastime while you were bedridden.

Your visit here reminds me of the grown child who comes home to visit his parents for a while. No matter how long it has been, it is always heart warming. And then, when the beloved visitor needs to leave, it is always a sad thing.

In any case,go with God and be well! smile

The love of your friends here are waiting whenever you feel the urge or need to 'visit' us again! wink

With love in Christ,
Alice

Dear Alice,

As you know, I say that I'm going and then I come back for "one last comment."

That's what happens when one reads this dynamic forum!

God bless you!

Alex
