Today, August 27th, is the second anniversary of repose of Deacon Stanley Cholewinski, the beloved husband of our dear sister and friend, Pani Rose.

In your charity, please remember Deacon Stan who, though a deacon of the Metropolia of Pittsburgh, thru the happenstance of geography and the Lord's generosity, faithfully served St George's Melkite parish in Birmingham, AL, during all the years of his minsitry.

In your prayers, remember also his family, that the Lord comfort them with their memories of him and the expectation of reuniting with him in heaven.

May his memory be eternal!

From the 1941 Hymnal of the Evangelical & Reformed Church:

Almighty and everlasting God,
before whom stand the spirits of the living and the dead;
Light of all lights,
Fountain of wisdom and goodness,
who livest in all pure and humble and gracious souls:

For all who have witnessed a good confession for thy
glory and the welfare of the world;
for patriarchs,prophets, and apostles;
for the wise of every land and nation,
and all teachers of mankind,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For the martyrs of our holy faith,
the faithful witness to Christ of whom the world was not worthy, and for all who have resisted falsehood and wrong
unto suffering of death,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For all who have labored and suffered for freedom,
good government,
just laws, and the sanctity of the home;
and for all who have given their lives for their country,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For all who have sought to bless men by their service and life,
and to enlighten the dark places of the earth,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For those who have been tender and brave in all times and places, and for all who have been one with thee
in the communion of Christ’s spirit
and in the strength of his love,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For the dear friends and kindred,
ministering in the spiritual world,
whose faces we see no more, but whose love is with us for ever,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For the teachers and companions of our childhood and youth,
and for the members of our household of faith
who worship thee in heaven,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

For the grace which was given to all these,
and for the trust and hope in which they lived and died,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

And that we may hold them in continual remembrance,
that the sanctity of their wisdom and goodness
may rest upon our earthly days,
and that we may prepare ourselves to follow them
in their upward way,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

That we may ever think of them as with thee,
and be sure that where they are,
there we may be also,
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

That we may have a hope beyond this world
for all thy children,
even for wanderers who must be sought and brought home;
that we may be comforted and sustained by the promise
of a time when none shall be a stranger
and an exile from thy kingdom and household,
Lord, in your mercy...hear our prayer.

The better responses would be "Lord, have mercy" (1 x or 3x) with each petition beginning "For..."; and "Grant this, O Lord" with the finals beginning "That..."

Glory to God! Y'all are so awesome! Thank you!

Well, y'all know how crazy these two years have been, as you carried me through them in prayer. You have no idea of what your prayers and love ave meant for myself, and my family.

The young man with cancer is still up and moving smile. That was a different kind of challenge for me in some ways. He and his wife are now in their own place. I tried to help them understand forgiveness. It one of those things where a Catholic tries to get a Protestant to understand a 180 degrees.

I want to share where God has led us to now. Truly a blessing, as I share this I think
of the night I heard the Lord say, 'I am going to bless you'. My response? Thank you
Lord, and I rolled over and went to sleep. God is so amazing, he puts up with my
laziness, but I am so thankful. Here goes!

It was always a dream of deacon's to have a family restaurant with his children. On the 27th, two years after his passing to the day our oldest son William signed the lease on our new family restaurant. CHUBBS GRUB STATION! when the Lord Jesus tells one to move, we must listen, though it seems totally impossible. Some months back, Christ said to tell my sons to go out and claim the land. My oldest son, replied that's nice
mom, but no body's gonna finance me as I have only been self employed for a year.
My reply to him, don't be concerned, it will most likely be someone you don't know.
And it was! The man knew about William, but my son did not know him. Here is is a
very successful insurance underwriter, well established, always wanted to own a
restaurant, but didn't know how. He came in one day, ordered several different times,
sat there and watched my son the rest of the day. He then introduced himself, and
said, simply 'I want to finance you in a restaurant, and really want to be your partner'.
God has his ways! They have developed a wonderful relationship, and in someways
has helped my sons with loosing their dad.
