Dear Friends,

I ask for your prayers as I begin to move ahead with my plans for diaconal formation.

Support for this has come from really unexpected quarters . . .

And it has brought me a solid measure of peace, even though there is much effort for me ahead.

I'll finally be making myself useful and promise not to fritter my time away on argumentativeness on this Forum (which was never intended to be such a Forum).

All I know is that to post a prayer request here is to experience an almost immediate feeling of having one's prayers answered.

All the best to you all!

Your servant,

Alex

My dear Lady,

Yes indeed - challenges that I don't know anything about as yet.

I've joined a weekly study group and will undertake a certificate in Eastern Christian studies for credits to begin with.

The people involved are very enthusiastic and committed to study and prayer.

At that level, I'm in 100%!

I'm looking forward to your Scottish vote tomorrow - if you all decide to cut loose from the U.K., Scotland may float over to North America and you will be closer!

The studies are actually fascinating and enriching.

Perhaps everyone should participate in them for their own spiritual nourishment and disciplined prayer life . . .

Alex,

Once you are settled.. perhaps you could put in a good word for me to my bishop.. we've discussed the possibility but it's been silence for a few years now.. I don't want to push the issue.

Dear Michael,

Certainly, I'm learning quickly that so much depends on the Bishop's good will here (we have about half a dozen diaconal candidates who are waiting to begin their credits and training - they are waiting and waiting and . . .).

One told me to get used to waiting.

I'm no spring chicken though!

The support group is wonderful and even though there are those who didn't become deacons, they still received so much from the study and prayer.

But you are someone who definitely should be a Deacon!

Some Bishops give in to constant needling though smile

Alex

Thank you Pani Rose! (But why is it about time? Have you spoken to the Administrator or Alice recently . . .? smile ).

It's a long haul but I would recommend it to anyone.

Alex
