Hello, Friends,

It has been a long while - a couple of years at least - since I have visited this forum. I remember it as a unique and special place on the internet where fruitful discussion and a truly Christian discourse can take place. Maybe sometime soon, I will rejoin that conversation.

For now, though, because I value your prayers especially, I have come with a special request for my younger, ailing sister. She is suffering from a very serious mystery illness, for a couple of years now, which leaves her utterly exhausted, in chronic pain, too many internal and external issues to count - it's overwhelming. And the worst part is, she's been to an army of specialists across the country to try and figure out what is going on and - no answer.

She is going back to the Mayo Clinic next week. She tells me she is feeling weaker and weaker and as if her body is shutting down. She is brave, but I know she is scared for her life. We all are. It is really that serious. And she is an angel, who's been suffering like you wouldn't believe.

PLEASE pray that the doctors find something, anything, to explain what is going on.

PLEASE pray for my parents, and my whole family, who are at their wits' end trying to help her.

PLEASE pray for Kate's miraculous recovery.

Thank you all.

Garrett

Nice to see you back Garett - pity it's under these circumstances frown

Prayers for Kate , and of course for all her family supporting her through this.

Please keep in touch not just about Kate [ though of course we all want to know how things go ] but also about you - It doesn't seem that long since your 'handle' was Logos-Teen .

Dear Garrett,

I am really, really sorry to hear this. This is so upsetting to me as a mother of a daughter not too much older.

Be *assured* that I will keep her in daily prayers to God, and through the intercessions of the very miraculous saint, Nektarios of Aegina.

May our Lord heal Kate. Amen.

In Christ,
Alice

It is good to see you here Logos Alexis but yes, such a difficult situation. I too have been 'mostly away' from this site and have visited a bit lately now, so here I am and will add prayers for Kate, you, your parents, and that the doctors may arrive at successful diagnosis, treatment, and that she be restored to a a very full, long, and pain free life.

Garrett,

Please her her looked at by an internal medicine doctor, one who would be very familiar with Lyme's Disease. This is a horrible disease with many manifestations, so perhaps this could help you.
My prayers are with your sister and you.

Prayers for /Kate, and for wisdom from on High for those who diagnose and treat her.

I echo Deacon El's concern; and add that some symptoms you describe might be those of fibromyalgia, which lacks a positive test. FM is generally diagnosed only after ruling out everything else. It can be debilitating.

Hi Everyone,

Good to hear from so many old familiar "faces." Thank you all for your prayers.

Our Lady's Slave and CS - thank you very much. Perhaps I will get more into posting here, but I'm all grown up and a lawyer now, and have somewhat limited time.

My sister is still very unwell. She's seem armies of doctors, but to even line up her treatment is a daily battle, and she is emotionally drained/combative/very difficult to direct (not how she normally is); I think as a result of the strain of continued illness for so long (now going on 2 1/2 years).

Lyme disease is a possibility but is very hard to test for. We are exploring that.

She's been to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota numerous times now. Last year, they actually MISdiagnosed her with fibromyalgia, and we worked under that presumption for a year until they determined that no, she has measurable, identifiable things wrong with her (a host of them), and therefore they retracted (!!) the FM diagnosis, since that is really only for people who have no other explanation. However, it very well may be and in my opinion probably is something autoimmune disorder-related.

Unfortunately she remains very sick. She's almost 25 now and has been seriously ill since age 22. Less than 100 lbs, a shell of her former self, and no answers in sight. Needless to say it's taken a huge toll on our family life, in addition because her physical condition has had destabilizing mental influences on her.

On a positive note, if I can try and find one, is that it does not seem at this point that she has a *degenerative* condition, like MS. We've considered everything from fibromyalgia to even HIV (that was ruled out) and lupus (ruled out), etc etc. She is seeing a new rheumtatologist soon; I have hope that this may provide some answers, so please prayer especially for that.

Hope every one of you is and remains well.

Garrett

Dear Garrett,

With all my heart, I pray and hope and wish for a miraculous cure for Kate through His mysterious ways. Don't give up hope and faith.

This is a time of terrible tribulation for your family. My prayers also for all of you.

Be well,
Alice
