My brother added mě a question which perplexed me. I will ask it here.

Is the Saint whose name you bear your baptismal name? My brother was baptised Mateusz but changed his name to Filip.

Many blessings,

Bartosz

Hi Bartosz,

Generally speaking, yes.

Someone who is baptized "Mary" (for example) would be dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. Or to whatever Saint Mary she was dedicated to at baptism.

If you were not dedicated to a particular saint you can choose one for yourself.

If your brother has a special dedication to "Filip" (Saint Phillip the Apostle?), that's perfectly fine.

God bless!

John
