A little progress! I will watch if I can, depending on the time of day. Does anyone know the schedule?

Someone should write to EWTN to request that the Divine Liturgy (and the Tridentine Mass) be televised regularly, or at least ever so often. I think it would be a great way to introduce modern Roman Catholics to the many facets of the Universal Church.

Great! I wonder if Father Michael will be filming new episodes of "Light of the East" while at the studio?

Dear Anthony,

Perhaps you could find out as you are closer to them than all of us put together? wink

Folks,

The reason EWTN is having Divine liturgy is because the priests are there for a taping for the series "Light of the East" and might as well offer Divine Liturgy while they're there, huh?

I think the series will premiere sometime next year, maybe in the fall of 2003? Not sure. I'll have to check my sources on that.

Greetings all...
Fr. Bertha and I will be taping another 15 episodes entitled Light of the East II beginning on Monday, November 4th.
We have both read the "reviews" from our dear critics on this forum. Please keep in mind that we have only 24 actual minutes per episode to cover a century of material and not have people fall asleep either! I know we gloss over some things and dwell on others, but hey, it's our show! :-) We have a wonderful relationship with EWTN, and I'm sure we'll be able to do a Part III. Once again, keep in mind that EWTN pays our transportation, and I would imagine a week of using the studio for our series costs big $$$. Maybe we can get Dragani to be a guest next time!
This time we have the assistant director of the Ecumenical and Interreligious Department of the USCCB, also an author, Fr. Dr. Ronald Roberson as a guest. We will discuss East West relations and churches with him as he has had hands on dialogue with many of the Orthodox churches.
We will all be on EWTN Live on Wednesday, November 6th at 7 Central.
The Divine Liturgy will be broadcast on Friday morning, November 8th at 7 Central on the feast of St. Michael, and will be rebroadcast in a shortened form later on. Last time they had to give us an additional 1/2 hour, which they did gladly!
Please pray for us that week! We'll need it, as we tape all 15 episodes in four days!
Fr. Michael Sopoliga

Bless me a sinner, Father Sopoliga!

We will indeed pray for you to have the necessary stamina to do the gruelling taping . . .

I too was once a local TV anchor with my own show and we taped many shows to the point that I once got makeup powder shoved into my mouth as I was yawning . . .

Our bishop, whom I was interviewing on the day of the funeral of Patriarch Josyf the Confessor, was going a bit bald and his head was rather, well, shiny - I insisted we didn't use powder on him as, on camera, he looked like he had a halo . . . wink

God bless!

Alex

Father, bless!

Need a cantor?

Seriously, best wishes for successful taping, and the ability to touch hearts.

May St. Clare, patroness of TV pray for you, and St. Vidicon of Cathode pray for you as well, even if he is fictional.

Sharon

Dear Friends,

If you go to the EWTN site today, there is a Madonna picture with an actual "prayer rope" Rosary, like the kind they made in the 1600's in western Europe, depicted.

A very good example of the tradition of prayer ropes in the West as well!

Tell 'em, Anthony, tell 'em!

And, Mother Sharon, I'm sure you are very photogenic! You ought to be in pictures!

Father Michael,

Thank you for the wonderful news! I was just wondering the other day if there would be any more episodes. This is great.

As for me being a guest the next time around, I would be happy to do it. Hopefully by then my dissertation will be finished, and I will radiate joy and serentiy smile

You and Father Joe will be in my prayers as you film.

Anthony

Dear Friends:

True to its being a window to the Catholic World, EWTN's TV ministry is providing an invaluable medium for the evangelization of peoples.

Add to this the services of Anthony and the other EWTN Experts in the e-print medium and we have a powerhouse!

Thanks Fr. Michael and Fr. Joe, and Anthony for your contributions.
