Hi there.
This is my first post. I am very pleased to find this community.
It's very possible this has been asked many times and feel free to point me towards anoth thread.
As I understand it, having been baptized in the Roman Catholic Church, I am welcome to attend and take communion in the Byzantine Catholic Church.
This makes me happy because I have come to regard the Eastern Orthodox Tradition as the definitive expression of Christianity.
My wife however was raised Baptist, but has grown to appreciate Catholicism and Orthodoxy and would like to attend and participate in the mass/liturgy wit me.
The RC's as you know require that a person undergo the RCIA program before taking communion.
What conditions are placed on a sincere Christian who has not been baptised in the RC or Eastern Orhtodox Chruch before thay can take communion.
What is involved in the conversion process?
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Love Mark

I have come to regard the Eastern Orthodox Tradition as the definitive expression of Christianity.
By this I primarily mean theologically.

My understanding of the rules in Aust. (I guess elsewhere is similar) is that to take communion in any tradition, eastern, western, Catholic, Orthodox, you need to be in communion with that church. In Aust. in many cases if a Baptist, for instance, marries a Catholic, they can get become a member of the husband's church without neccesarily going through RCIA. However, if the husband changes rites I am not sure of the effect that would have, as he himself is going through a change in his relationship with CHrist. Don't take this as definitive, but that's my understanding. This site has Statutes regarding transfer to the Ukarainian Eparchy of Australia. Should be relatively the same elsewhere. www.catholicukes.org N
