I posted this message as a favor to a good friend of mine, who is the Cantor of Saint Nicholas Parish.

I would suggest reaching out to the Parish Office at the email address provided in the original post (John@stnicholaspa.org) and they can address your questions.

If you're in that part of New Jersey, I would recommend visiting Saint Nicholas in Edison; it is a very nice Greek Catholic Parish.

St. Nicholas is a Ruthenian Byz Cath church (Passaic). The current pastor is Fr Glenn Michael Davidowich.

Two points of clarification:

1. The term "Greek Catholic" is the more authentic (and some would argue more correct) term for "Byzantine Catholic;"

2. Father Glenn Michael is not the Pastor (nor is he the Administrator) of Saint Nicholas Parish. He has been assisting there on Weekends & Feast Days since +Father Robert Radvansky fell ill earlier this year.

I agree with you. But what are you supposed to do when that is their actual name?

My response wasn't meant to challenge, just putting in perspective the parish mentioned for the benefit of non "Greek Catholics". Maybe its generational or regional, but I haven't heard the term "Greek Catholic" used in many years. The shift from Greek to Byz started in some areas in the late '70s. I assumed the term "Byz Catholic" had become the norm throughout- but that can be a whole 'nother thread.
