I think that despite what the PC crowd would like to hear, "priest" is a word in English that has a gender - male. Of course, I suspect one could ordain a dog and call it either a priest or a priestess, if so desired. However, one could re

RE: Terry Mattingly's presentation It was interesting to me that Mr Mattingly referred to the 80/20 rule. My former employer has been trying to employ 80/20 in its strategic sales plan for about six years now and has been decreased its market sh

The Empress of Austria-Hungary, being the Apostolic Queen, was entitled to sit within the altar. This caused quite a shock in Pittsburgh at the consecration of Bishop Daniel Ivancho! Fr. Serge

Why would "priestess" be a non-Christian term (apart, of course, from the obvious fact that until the mid-20th century the mainline Christian Churches had nothing of the sort)? Fr. Serge

There is another new book out (in the last 18 months) called The People from Nowhere by Professor Magocsi. This is also available from the Carpatho-Rusyn Research Center in multiple languages, I believe (see the references from Neil above, or the r

Father Deacon Randolph- where in Van Nuys did a female serve at the altar? I certainly have not been to every parish in the eparchy, but I've yet to witness a female altar server.

Larry pointed out the Williamsburg parish. Something I might add to his recommendation - you are about equidistant from a parish in Williamsburg and in Virginia Beach. Both are roughly 29 miles from Hampton according to http://maps.google.com . The p

I'd be interested as well - it is my understanding from histories of Kyivan Rus' that Princess Olha and the subsequent princesses before the Muscovite era had an appointed place near the iconostas but outside the altar on the left (north) side.
