And one of the shooters has been identified as an Army Major named Malik Nadal Hasan.

Eternal memory to all those who died!

As an Army Veteran, who knew people stationed at Ft. Hood while I was in Iraq (not there any more to the best of my knowledge) this is such an unfortunate event. This really tugs at my heart strings. I hope the Army can find out the motive for this attack.

Christ have Mercy! Lord Have Mercy.

Eternal memory!

Prayers for all those injured and killed, Lord have mercy...

Like Nelson, I spent time at Fort Hood, though during another, now seemingly long-ago war. My heart goes out to the troops and families there and to the chiefly active and retired military residents of the surrounding community of Killeen (itself the site of a horrific mass killing a few years back).

Prayers for all of those wounded in the attack, that they recover from both the physical and emotional trauma of this awful event. Memory eternal to those who died; may the Lord lead them to a place of light and love, where there is neither pain nor suffering, but only life everlasting.

Prayers, too, for the families of all those wounded and killed, families who worried about the risks to their sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, moms and dads, while serving overseas in their Army roles, but never expected them to be brutally attacked in their own country and on a major US military base.

Lord have mercy on all, and may the sins of those who were taken without warning be forgiven and may their memory be eternal. Amen.

Speechless. May the soul of the man doing this atrocity find forgiveness and peace with God. For those wounded, their families, and the whole community - Father of healing, our Great Physician, come in your mercy and heal their wounds of every type, physical, mental, emotional. For the souls of those who died so tragically - may their every sin be forgiven - those committed in thought, word, or deed, knowingly or unknowingly - may their memory be eternal.

That's might un-Christian, whose life is more worthy? Problemed...yes. Less worthy...absolutely not based upon the fact that we're all created in the image and likeness of God (cf. Gen 2:1).

Lord have mercy --

On those dead or injured

Prayers for their relatives and loved ones who now suffer

Prayers for those treating the injured

Prayers for the disturbed person who did this act - may he receive healing of mind and body and come to terms with his action and its result.

a reminder to another poster - we were not in the mind of the person who took this dreadful action and so should NOT condemn him in this way

A reminder to posters - the points made by Ed and Anhelyna are valid. This is a prayer forum - it should and will remain free of judgemental postings.

We pray here for those who suffer, those who die, and even for those who commit horrific acts - that they may atone for them and ask God's forgiveness.

Many years,

Neil

Particular prayers for the swift recovery of Sgt Kim Munley, the courageous Dept of Defense police officer, who undoubtedly saved many other lives when she shot the perpetrator, despite suffering significant wounds herself.

God provides! What a wonderful miracle biggrin

The Rev. Edward McCabe didn’t want to go to Fort Hood when the assignment came for the Army Reserves captain to become senior Catholic chaplain at the sprawling military post.

Two months after he arrived, when he was needed to pray for those felled by a gunman, McCabe came to understand why Fort Hood was where he needed to be.

Of the 13 people who died, McCabe blessed 11 of them.

Almighty God,
we commend to your gracious care and keeping
all the men and women of our armed services at home and abroad.
Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace;
strengthen them in their trials and temptations;
give them courage to face the perils which beset them;
and grant them a sense of your abiding presence
wherever they may be;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
