Phil 4:6& 7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:5-6 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
and Eph. 1:7-8 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.
2 Corinthians 10:3 cf For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses . We are destroying speculations and ever lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ....
Blessings, Michele

I know this is rather long, but I would say, this is my favorite passage:
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, "Abba, Father!" The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us. For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God; for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance. In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because it intercedes for the holy ones according to God's will.
We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined he also called; and those he called he also justified; and those he justified he also glorified.
What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him? Who will bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who acquits us. Who will condemn? It is Christ (Jesus) who died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? As it is written: "For your sake we are being slain all the day; we are looked upon as sheep to be slaughtered."
No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to seperate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:14-39; emphasis added)

Did you know that the Orthodox St Procopius of Ustiug, Fool for Christ, was a Latin convert to Orthodoxy?
When he reposed, they found his psalter beside him . . . in Latin . . .
Dominus Tecum!
Alexius Romanus Thannks for that note Alex. I guess I too can be considered a Yurodivyi. (in the modern sense) Although I have yet to convert to Orthodoxy.

There are many that jump off the pages and fill my heart with joy. Here are my all-time favorites:
Philippians 2:6-8 6 Who, though he was in the form of a God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. 7 Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming into human likeness; and found human in appearance, 8 he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.
Revelation 5:11-14
11 I looked again and heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the throne and the living creatures and the elders. They cried out in a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing." 12 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe cry out: "To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever." 14 The four living creatures answered, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshipped.
Also, the Miserere in its entirety is an awesome exposition of David seeking God's forgiveness.
Cyril, enjoying all the posts by others showing their love of the Sacred Scriptures.

1 Timothy 4:12--
"Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity."
Yes, I'm a "youngster", if you will, so I take this one to heart. It keeps me motivated in the right path.

"Awake, thou sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give thee light!".
But on a light-hearted note, one should read Proverbs 27:14.
To that, one may respond with Proverbs 26:9.

This topic is great!!! I have loved reading all these excellent quotes! I too have many favorites, I will not write them here but put chapter and verse. Why? So you will have to look them up for yourselves. One, you will get familiar with the Holy Scriptures. (you might even be able to rattle off all the books in order like one of my 12 year old Lutheran patients did for me one day. Also, you might be so caught up reading the Bible that you'll spend an hour or two with the Scriptures instead of waisting your time doing somehting else.
Matt 5:1-16; 16:13-19; 21:9; 25:34-40
Luke (My Patron ) 1:28; 1:46-55; 2:35; 15:11-32
Mark 14:22-26
John 1:1-5; 2:1-5; 6;35-71 (remember they left him because they didn't believe in the Eucharist [John 6:66]); 11:25-26; 15:26 (Filioque? I won't start that one up again! ); 16:26-27 and last but not least 19:25-27
I've taken up too much space and didn't even get out of the Gospels. I seriously encourage all of you to read your Bibles more. I read the whole Bible in 9 months (the same amount of time as my 2nd daughter was forming in my wife ) If you do 5 Chapters a day you'll get done quickly!!!
