I'm just curious.

Are any parishes in the Metropolia still celebrating the Liturgy as it should be celebrated? (Red book anyone?) Have there been any cases of Liturgical police showing up and removing the antimens from the altar?

I hope that there are some priests left like +Fr. Shear (of blessed memory) who are thumbing their noses at the new Liturgy.

If you don't want to post here, PM me.

"As it should be celebrated"? You apparently haven't read the introduction to the New Order books (i.e. Sole Liturgical Text).

The new Liturgy is not the only thing that Fr. Shear voiced his displeasure with....yes, we definitely need more priests like him.

I knew Fr. Shear personally and he would tell me from time-to-time about the destruction of our Slavonic Liturgy as well as the destruction of our Rusyn heritage that he experienced throughout the decades before his untimely death last year.

When I would visit St. Ann's in Harrisburg, it still amazes me on how he built that parish to what it is today! The Liturgies are filled, there are children everywhere! He told me, "See the children going up and down the isles during Liturgy? I love it, that means that they like it." What prophetic words.

Let's hope that there are still priests like that out there that!

That being said, rumor has it that there are some churches in the Pittsburgh area that simply refuse to use the RDL, either in part or in full. Some have not even purchased the books. AS it is a rumor, I will not say where they are, except they are in the Pittsburgh area. No reports of the Litrugical police yet, but I am sure that they are there in all the parishes...I know they are at my parish.

I know Father Mike "ruffled alot of feathers"...he was definitely someone who proved being "Orthodox" will NOT drive people away...rather it will attract them...

Thank the Good Lord they are in the Pittsburgh area...if they were in Passaic I wouldn't be surprised if the parishes were closed and the priests thrown out without health insurance or pension...

That is exactly why I feel very blessed that I am a member of St. Ann's. Fr. Mike was a great example and I'm very thankful for what he's done at St. Ann's and the legacy he has left.

What's it like at St. Ann's now? Has the new rector kept the spirit of Fr. Mike alive, or has revisionism entirely gripped the parish?

To be honest I don't know, as because of my health I have not been able to attend Liturgy at St. Ann's in months. You'd need to ask someone such as "Altar Boy" or anyone else who's been at St. Ann's lately. Personally, I hope the spirit of Fr. Mike is being kept alive.

Hopefully someone will speak up. Just from what I've seen and read on the web, St. Ann's seems to be a Byzantine oasis. Hope it stays that way. wink Prayers for you to regain your health!

Yeah, I'd like to hear about how things are at St. Ann's currently myself. And thank you for your prayers!

I may have an update for you this week on St. Ann's.

My dad went there to help our at their annual Slavic Festival.

I will report more as he returns tomorrow.
