Our priest, Father Michael from: SS. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church sent out the following email:
 Quote:
At 12:00 Noon all this week, all members of the parish are asked to pray one Our Father and one Hail Mary for the intention of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Today, Sunday was the Sunday of Vocations. The Church, our Church, is in dire need of priests. Pray fervently for vocations.

Perhaps others on this forum might want to pray with us at NOON each day for vocations this week.

Throughout the Latin Church, the "World Day of Prayer for Vocations" is held on the 4th Sunday of Easter. This year it falls on this coming Sunday, 13 April 2008.

Does the BCA have a different Sunday set aside for this purpose or did Fr. Michael postdate his e-mail to this coming Sunday?

I think Vocations Sunday is common to all Catholic Churches, East and West?

At any rate, we join you in your daily prayer for more vocations leading to Vocations Sunday on 13 April 2008.

Pope Benedict XVI's message for the 45th celebration of Vocations Sunday (13 April 2008) issued on 03 December 2007:

There was a special on EWTN last night called "Fishers of Men", which was like an advertisement for vocational recruitment. It even showed Byzantine priests throughout the "ad". Was quite good really.

Armadeus,

Christ is Risen!

This past Sunday, April 6 was indeed Vocation Awareness Sunday for the Metropolia. For the homily at Sunday's Divine Liturgy I read Archpriest Hrubiak's prepared Homily, as was to be read throughout the Metropolia.

We also put out the vocations icon and I would have added the special vocations ektenia, but the sacristy was cleaned and I couldn't find the text which was previously prepared. (Typical guy, I can't find anything after a woman cleans.)

Papal visit triggers “tsunami” of New York seminary applications

Yonkers, NY, Apr 26, 2008 / 03:45 am (CNA).- St. Joseph Seminary in Yonkers, New York, has received dozens of applications following Pope Benedict’s visit, the New York Daily News reports.

"It's been like a tsunami, a good tsunami of interest," said Father Luke Sweeney, the Archdiocese of New York's vocations director. “I've been meeting people all week and have a lot of e-mails I haven't had the chance yet to respond to. It has been incredible.”
