Although the article fails to mention it, Saint Alphonsa was Syro Malabar.

Deacon Lance is correct and, in fact, Sister Saint Alphonsa is the first member of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church to be canonized. May she intercede for the restoration of religious peace and tolerance in her homeland.
