Perhaps this subject has already been addressed but here goes:
in the States the bishops are asking for participation in
http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/fortnight-for-freedom/

Part of this period coincides with our Apostles' Fast.

Here's the prayer with which Bl. Pope John Paul 2 concluded his 1995 encyclical "Evangelium Vitae":

O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life: Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made more difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.

Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift always new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life.

We are have two weeks of vespers and training focused upon the reasons for the oppression of Christians and how to respond to the HHS mandate and related issues. These are led by our good priest.

I keep running into Catholics who have no idea what this is all about. Either there are many renegade priests or not too many Catholics who pay attention or who are really Catholic. I suspect when push comes to shove we have as many enemies in the Catholic Church as friends.

That's part of the reson being Catholic is so paradoxical.
