Dear Friends,

On Sunday, our visiting priest said that just as we are a family in Christ, we are also a family of Americans, and as such, he offered a trisagion prayer for those who died at the hands of "yet another person influenced by the demonic". We also prayed a silent prayer for the parents of the perpetrator and also for him.

Not being able to avoid the stories which are emerging, one particularly came to my attention, which, together with all those suffering and who we pray to God to grant them comfort in their unbearable pain, I would like you to keep in mind:

There is a beautiful young woman who was there that night with her six year old. Her child, her beautiful daughter was shot dead. The mother is in hospital, pregnant with another child, and with wounds which have probably rendered her paralyzed. When she was told about her child, she cried out that 'she wanted to die'.

I am almost in shock at what this young woman is experiencing: unspeakable grief at losing a precious child to such an unspeakable horror, guilt (I am sure), paralysis, and at the same time pregnancy...If you find it in your heart, let's pray daily for a miracle for this young woman, so that she will be healed of the paralysis. My mind cannot even wrap itself around this, it is so terrible...Kyrie Eleison! Lord have mercy! Kyrie Eleison!

Prayers for the young mother, her unborn child, and all those recovering from this horrific event. May the memory of all who reposed be eternal.
