That's how the split between the folk we now call Rusyns and Ukrainians was described, Galician vs. Hungarian....
In this sense, the terms are geographic, not ethnic.
I would be shocked if a representative of the English language press of the day would have the background to understand the division that would eventually divide the Slavic Eastern Catholics in the U.S. into Ukrainian and "Ruthenian" church structures.

Hi,
I was wondering if there are any pictures of the interior of Holy Cross on E 82nd St. I use to go to parties in their hall all the time as a kid but never been inside the Church. I was baptized down the block at St Stephen's of Hungary but grew up going to St Joseph's of Yorkville Church and Elementary School on E. 87th St.

I've moved the posts relating to Father Stephen Skinta, of blessed memory, to the Prayer forum.
Many years,
Neil

Many years, Neil I work near Holy Cross but have never been inside. Do they have liturgies in English? Does anyone have any experience of actually being there?

I have not been there in about 30 years...I believe since then they had some type of iconostasis put in...(I think it may have simply been icons on stands)...I know at one point they only served in Hungarian...however, knowing some of the priests that were assigned there, who didn't know Hungarian I think that probably no longer applies...

I found it on Google street view, but I don't know how to copy the picture so I could email it to you. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=323+E+82nd+St+New+York+NY+10028&hl=en&ll=40.774887,-73.952661&spn=0.001267,0.00184&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=43.25835,60.292969&hnear=323+E+82nd+St,+New+York,+10028&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=40.774887,-73.952661&panoid=15RvnqufJp2bJ6gmtFbzxw&cbp=12,22.33,,0,-7.5
