CWN - The Chaldean Catholic bishop of Detroit has called upon Catholics in the US and other Western nations to “adopt parishes, adopt dioceses, and adopt people” in order to “let the people there know that the people here are thinking of them and praying for them and thanking them for keeping the faith alive.”

Calling for prayer and advocacy, Bishop Frank Kalabat, who was born in Kuwait, asked US Christians to “speak up all the time” on behalf of the Middle East’s Christians, who are suffering greatly from the effects of the 2011 Arab Spring.

“If that is the spring, I’d hate to see the winter,” he said.

Wisdom from the Church Fathers

If God is slow in answering your request, and you ask but do not promptly receive anything, do not be upset, for you are not wiser than God. When you remain as you were before, without anything happening, it is either because your behaviour is not worthy of your request, or because the paths in which your heart was travelling were far removed from the aim of your prayer, or because your interior condition is far too childish, when compared with the magnitude of the thing for which you have asked.
