Seymour, TN -  The Byzantine Catholic Mission of the Holy Resurrection was formally established on Easter Sunday of 2001. This was one of the last acts that Archbishop Judson did before his untimely death in April. The Byzantine Catholic Community here in East Tennessee had begun two years ago, and the Archbishop felt that there was sufficient stability to raise the community to mission parish status.

The Nashville mission, which really never materialized, is no longer in existence.

Holy Resurrection Byzantine Catholic Mission celebrates the Divine Liturgy twice a month at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Seymour, Tennessee, which is about 15 miles southeast of downtown Knoxville. It is also easily accessible from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Members of the mission from all over the East Tennessee area. The Divine Liturgy is celebrated at 5:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month, and at 3:00 p.m. on the third Sunday of the month. On the weekends that we do not have the Divine Liturgy, Byzantine Vespers are celebrated after the 5:30 Mass at Holy Family.

The mission is served by Fr. Thomas O'Connell, who is pastor of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church as well as the pastor of the Holy Resurrection Mission.
