Pittsburgh -
On Saturday, April 3, 2004, the Archieparchial Office of Religious
Education, with the blessing and encouragement of Metropolitan Basil, is
sponsoring a Day of Reflection for women at St. John the Baptist
Cathedral in Munhall, PA. The day is titled: A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN:
DISCOVERING GIFTS OF BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT.
The program for the day is designed to affirm and further invite the
sharing of women’s gifts for our Church, to quench women’s thirst for
spiritual growth and to help develop their leadership skills. It is the
first of 3 annual days to thank women of the Archeparchy for all they do
in their parishes and to provide an opportunity for them to reflect, to
enjoy each other’s company and to learn more about their relationship
with God. Speakers for this reflection day are: Sister Roberta Campbell,
OSB, Helen Kennedy, Sister Barbara Jean Mihalchick, OSBM and Christine
Uveges.
The day will begin at 9a.m. with Registration and Coffee. Following an
opening prayer and welcoming remarks by Metropolitan Basil, the program
will include three talks, a light lunch, vendors, exhibits, and a
Chinese Auction to benefit a local women’s shelter. All women 18 and
over are invited to attend. Cost for the day is $20; (ages 18-22 and
over 65, $12).
The planning committee asks that you help to spread the word for this
day. As a special gift to yourself, please come at this precious time to
"set aside all earthly cares" at the beginning of Great and Holy Week.
As modern day descendants of the Myrrh-bearing Women, we ask Mary, our
beloved Theotokos, to be with us in our planning, preparation and
implementation of this day.
