Father Petras currently serves as Spiritual Director and Professor of Liturgy at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has also served as Academic Dean at the Seminary. He is internationally respected for his knowledge of the liturgies of the Eastern Churches and his columns appear in several newspapers throughout the United States and Canada. He is also the editor of the annual typicon for the Church as well as the Church calendars.
He is highly regarded for his work promoting ecumenism. Since 1984, Father Petras has served as a member of the American Catholic-Orthodox Theological Consultation.
He has served as pastor of several Byzantine Catholic
communities in the midwestern-based Eparchy of Parma and has also served
on the faculty of St. Mary's Seminary, Cleveland. He is perhaps the
most published author in the Byzantine Church in the United States and
frequently gives numerous lectures, workshops and retreats.
Father J. Daniel Mindling, O.F.M. Cap.,
is the Academic Dean of Mount Saint Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
and will once again join the retreat to provide personal confession and
spiritual direction throughout the weekend.
Father Robert F. Oravetz,
a priest of the Archdiocese of Pittsburgh, is the coordinator of the annual
retreat.
All adults, including singles, couples, extended families
are invited to attend. You need not need be a member of a Byzantine Catholic
parish to attend. Previous retreat participants have included members of
the Byzantine Catholic and Orthodox Churches as well as members of the
Roman Catholic and non-Catholic Churches.

Antiochian
Village is used for retreats and meetings of the priests of the Archdiocese
of Pittsburgh and for Byzan-teen weekend programs. The Village is fourteen
years old and sits on a 500-acre campus and is owned and operated by the
Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese. It
includes a 200-room hotel, three chapels and churches, a large library,
heritage center, and gift shop. The Village also houses the nation's only
training center for iconographers. A health / exercise suite is also part
of the hotel complex.
$125 per person, sharing a room
$175 per person, single room
Cost includes room for two nights, Friday snack, four
meals, honaria, liturgical music book of all services.
Deposits, Final Payment, Cancellations
A deposit of $25 per person (payable to the Byzantine
Catholic Serra Club) will reserve your room.
Final payment is due at noon,
Friday, February 27, 1998. You may send complete payment with
your reservation.
Full and immediate refund for all cancellations received by noon, Friday, February 27, 1998. After that time, no refunds will be given but substitution by others is permitted.
