67th Annual Pilgrimage

August 31 - September 3, 2001

Additional Information:

MYSTERY OF RECONCILIATION (Confession)

A complete listing of the Mystery of Reconciliation Schedules is posted in the Retreat Center and also at the Patio Confession Area.

The Patio Area of the Retreat Center will be used exclusively for Confessions, consultations, and meditation. The Patio Altar will be used only for Special Services in Preparation for Confession. No Divine Liturgies will be celebrated there.

Out of reverence for the Mystery of Reconciliation and respect for the privacy of those who are coming to receive forgiveness, we ask that those waiting in lines stand a proper distance away from the confessional. We also ask that the Pilgrims refrain from using this area for conversation or for walking back and forth. Your cooperation is appreciated!

DISTRIBUTION OF HOLY COMMUNION

During all concelebrated Hierarchical Liturgies at the Mother of God Shrine, Shrine Altar, and Cemetery, Holy Communion will be distributed at the Communion Stations.

OF SPECIAL IMPORTANCE TO THE SICK, INFIRM AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED

Arrangements have been made for the Mystery of Reconciliation of the Physically Challenged on the Parking Lot in front of Macrina Manor (directly above the Mother of God Shrine). On Sunday, September 3, Confessions for the Physically Challenged will begin at 1:30 pm. On Monday, September 4, Confessions for the Physically Challenged will begin at 9:00 am.

Special provisions are offered to the sick, infirm, and Physically Challenged at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgies on Sunday, September 3 at 4:00pm and on Monday, September 4 at 10:00am at the Mother of God Shrine. A special tent will be provided for them. They are requested to be in their places by 3:30 pm on Sunday and by 9:45 am on Monday. Arrangements have been made for them to receive Holy Communion at these Liturgies. Priests will bring the Holy Communion to them in their places.

The sick, infirm, and Physically Challenged attending the Pilgrimage on Sunday will receive a special blessing.

TRANSPORTATION:

Vans to accommodate the elderly, sick, and infirm will be available for transportation to the various areas on the Mount. Stops are posted and the vans will make their rounds approximately every half hour.  Transportation is also available from the handicapped parking site to the main areas of Pilgrimage.

TO THOSE ATTENDING THE PILGRIMAGE:

WE PRESUME that by your presence on these grounds of Mount Saint Macrina at this time of the Annual Pilgrimage, you come here to participate in the spiritual program prepared to honor the Mother of God in a special manner during these days.

WE FURTHER PRESUME that by your presence here, you want to be a source of edification and good example to other pilgrims and that you will dress accordingly, and that your acts will be such that you will bear out our presumptions.

WE FURTHER PRESUME that since your intention on entering these grounds was to make the Pilgrimage, you will be willing to correct your conduct or your dress if the Directors should find you wanting, and that failure to do so when properly requested will result in your being asked to leave this place of prayer and meditation. The judgment of the Directors in these matters is final.

The setting up of any special booths or tents, or any soliciting, any distribution of materials, is not permitted without the express consent of the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great.

IT IS A VIOLATION OF THE FEDERAL LAW TO WILLFULLY AND DELIBERATELY INTERFERE WITH A RELIGIOUS SERVICE.

For the purpose of clarity, we consider this Annual Pilgrimage you are attending to be a continuous religious service from its opening to its closing.

MAUSOLEUM / CEMETERY:

PLANNED GIVING:

Opportunity is available during this Pilgrimage to speak privately with Mr. Steve Peters, Financial Advisor to the Sisters of St. Basil for the past 18 years, about Planned Giving. Mr. Peters can answer your questions as well as provide additional options for your earthly treasures to continue to give and to minister far beyond your lifetime. If you are interested in meeting with Mr. Peters, please see Sister Margaret Kapusnak, Development Director, in the Donation Room at the Retreat Center to arrange an appointment.
