So we are saying that evil will prevail!!! I do hope not. It is easy to be so negative when we see what is going on around us.

The Basilians in my view, are just another Austrian Religious order who still dress as Central European Latins with their big collars etc. Have you ever seen a Basilian in a klobuk or a female Basilian dressed in the tradional byzantine way for a nun. I think is is safe to answere that as NO! They dress as RCs to this day, as do the SSMI. They would not be caught dead dressed as Byantines. Sadly they would have to do a course to learn about the byzantine church they are so divorced from it and their church culture. Naturally it would have to be run by Latins. wink

I think it is safe to say that any Jesuits etc in the Eastern rites keep a very high standard of liturgical and ecclesia practice.

The Studites were introducted as male and female byzantine monastercism had died out. To get the 'good oil' the Metroplitan sent his brother to a Benedictine monastery to do his novicate. What was lost was restored in this act.

I notice that religious life is seen by a number of those posting here as a 'doing' thing rather than their 'being' in the church.

The is only 1 Benedictine Abbey in Australia founded in 1846 at New Norcia by Spanish OSB refugees who had fled to a monastery south of Naples. The lady who does guided tours in their at gallery / museum said she is always asked what the monks 'do' and she tells them "they do as they are told".

Happy Easter to those who are celebrating ths feast of feasts and a prayerfull Palm Sunday to the rest.

Pavel,

there also is a Benedictine Abbey in New SOuth Wales, at Arcadia. Surely you know; is your post a reflection of post-vigil fatigue?

Dearest Nedsky the Priory at Arcadia of the Sylvestine Congregation was not forgotten. Despite being so very far away over the horizon where the sky meets the land, far to the east.
