I have some questions:
-who were these herethics, what did they believe?
-were they Slavs, Turks, Pomaks?
-did they follow the byzantine rite or the latin rite before they became catholics?
-why are they different from the rest of the Bulgarians?

Most Bosnian Muslims are most likely the descendents of Slavic Bogomils. We certainly are Slavs.
Most Bulgarian Muslims are also of Slavic ethnicity, though many would prefer to identify as Turks. ( Ottomans would be a more accurate description of their culture, since many cannot possibly be of Turkish ancestry.)
Pomaks are a very ancient Hellenic-Thracian people who are not "Turks."
Macedonian Muslims--excluding Albanians--are also Slavs.
Ottoman Turks first came to the Balkans while serving--as mercenaries-- in the armies of the Byzantine Emperors, obviously before the fall of Constantinople.
