Dear John,

And you just remember that you're really preaching to the converted here! smile

All three "Romes" have been witness to great holiness and great sins. Let us not forget that.

Dear Andrew:

There are only 2 "Romes!"

The first was, still is, and will always be Rome, without the quotations! biggrin

What, only two?

Try telling that to the people of Floyd County.

Dear Amado,

Moscow certainly does consider itself a "Third Rome."

And Pope John Paul II DID refer to it as such early in his pontificate.

I remember the commotion his comment caused among our people . . . wink

That's O.K. though!

There's at least one Orthodox parish in Rome, New York. Wouldn't it be fun if it became the seat of an Orthodox Bishop?

My comment was intended only to be an inside joke! :p

Frankly speaking though, the later 2 are mere pretenders. wink

You're thinking of the Sultanate of Oswego.

I agree, the pretensions of NY and GA are sad. C'est la vie.

Dear Andrew,

I was thinking about the "Rum Orthodox . . ."

Sounds like my kind of Church! smile

Rome can be such a kill-joy at times.

Ooops. Sorry. Incognitus wants us to be serious . . . wink

Sounds good to me, and certainly better than plum brandy.
