Let GOD Arise!
Let all His enemies be scattered!
As wax melts before the fire!
As smoke vanishes, so let them vanish!
+ + +

CHRIST is Risen from the Dead
Trampling Down Death by Death
And Upon those in the tombs
Bestowing Life!

+ + +

CHRIST is Risen! -- Indeed, He is Risen!

OrthoMan,

Your Church Slavonic is incorrect, let us hope it was just a type'o. It should read:

CHRISTOS VOSRESE! VOISTINNU VOSKRESE!(x3)
Whether your prounce it with a Muscovite, Ukrainian,Carpatho-Rusyn or Serbian pronunciation, it is transliterated into Latin script as I have rendered it above.

"Sej den, jehozhe sotvori Hospod', vozradujemsja i vozveselimsja v on!"

Christos Voskrese! Voistinnu Voskrese!
Christos Voskrese! Voistinnu Voskrese!
Christos Voskrese! Voistinnu Voskrese!

Christ is risen!

I'm afraid your Swedish and Norwegian is also incorrect, it should be spelled:

Swedish: Kristus r uppstnden!
Han r sannerligen uppstnden!

Norwegian: Kristus er oppstanden!
Han er sannelig oppstanden!

Dear Friends,

XPUCTOC BOCKPEC! BOICTUHY BOCKPEC!

Please lets give our Orthoman credit for bringing a multi-lingual perspective to Pascha without tearing him apart for spelling.

He also totally missed out the Ukrainian Paschal greeting, but did that put my Ukie nose out of joint? smile

By the way, the above is the TRUE spelling of the Paschal greeting in Ukrainian smile .

Dear Ality,

You raise an interesting (for me) point with your use of "Merry."

It is commonly used in conjunction with Christmas, but the Victorians also used it in connection with Hallowe'en ("Merrie Hallowe'en!").

Also, we find it in the ancient battle cry of the English: St George for Merrie England!"

In fact, "Merry" or "Merrie" is an historical shortening of the old English word, "Merrieg" which means "Holy" and has no bearing on "merry-making" although even this term originally meant "celebrating a holy day."

So, Merrieg Easter to you too!

Alex
