Dear Pavel Ivanovich,

I once came across a Russian Catholic Carmelite priest - are there many in the Russian Catholic Church?

Also, does the Russian Catholic Church liturgically venerate the Russian saints glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church i.e. New Martyrs and others?

I did hear that there was a service for the Tsar and royal martyrs at some stage in the Russian Catholic Centre in Melbourne. There is a print on the wall of the New Martyrs under communism on the chapel wall that has been there for years. There have always been a number of Orthodox who were regular attenders there and also on certain feast the chapel would be full of Orthodox. Literaraly the only differences in the liturgy and services is the name of the Latin Archbishop of Melbourne and the Pope in the appropriate places. I dont think they keep a particular feast as such but they would be covered by the calendar they follow which probably comes from the Russicum.

Alex, the answer is yes. I led a Moleben to Hieromartyr Pavel Florensky this year on his Old Style feast day (armed with a new icon of St. Pavel from our Dave/Chtec). We did the same for St. Seraphim of Sarov and sang his Akathist.

Pavel - the Russicum doesn't have a calendar per se. Orthodox saints are commemorated, and those Greek Catholic martyrs such as the Pratulin Martyrs, Hiermartyr Leonid, etc. are added as appropriate. And yes, Fr. Lawrence in Melbourne keeps the commemoration of many Orthodox saints.

I was thinking more of their shop than the Russicum as such. We used heaps of Orthodox service books even for the English texts. I always felt so at home in the Russian Centre as it was just one of the Russian Churches in the city. Rocor, Moscow, Greek Juristiction and Russian Catholic. People move easily between them. There was even Russian Baroness/Princess who used to go there RIP.
