And Ethiopian food is incredible.
Except during Lent, where they again shame their Christian brethren with bread, salt and water once or twice a day -
I think that only our monks are this devoted, and only in and only in Monastery towns like Debra Libanos. Fasting food,
yetsom magib, simply implies food without meat or dairy products, and it is still as good as the rest. Coincidently, right now we are fasting FILSETA, the fast of our Mother Holy Saint Mary. I am, as a matter of fact on my way to enjoy some fasting food now. I can assure you that it will not be “bread, salt and water” but will be a combination of shiro, misr, gomen and salata.
God Bless You all and I ask that you all keep me in your prayers during this fasting period.
"In heaven, God will not ask us why we sinned; He will ask us why we did not repent."—His Holiness Pope Shenouda (Coptic)
