well I for one when I saw the list of does Rome do this, does Rome do that thought, oh no here we go again. what Rome is was not clear. I assume L&F is writing about the Pope and his curia. The Pope is supportive of all parts of The Church. The Pope encourages and intervenes on behalf of all of his flock who need these supports. The Pope only has the money to redistribute from the fund entrusted to him by the faithful. The Popes encouraged the various Eastern Rite faithful to go back to their own traditions for almost a hundred years that i can think of. The previous Benedict was the one who really encouraged the non Latin Bishops to restore their own traditions. Hence Metropolitan Andrew and his work to restore the mess that his Archdiocese in Galicia. They really were RC's of Greek rite in those days and a very messed up Greek rite they were as well. Grottaferrata was to soon stop dressing as Benedictines and stop using the constitutions of Montecassino as their own. It was the Pope who created their little Exarchate for them out of the Latin diocese of Frascati. Sui Juris does not mean separate it means self governement and various degrees of it excist. Monasteries and a whole host of organisations within the church can be whatever's Sui Juris. We can be very negative and blame "Rome" for everything. As i say for nigh on the last century Popes have encouraged the various non Latin rites to delatinise (it works the same way as decolonise does). However it has taken almost that time for the Byzantines and others to listen to the Pope and Vatican II and do what they were told to do all those years ago. We still have Byzantine sisters all dressed as latins today they still operate as latins. The studites Nuns would be the only ones brave enough to dress as byzantine Nuns among he Ukrainian tradition. There has been far to much picking and choosing by those who can make differences in the church for too long. Thankfully we are on the winning side and Christ has lead the way, so it up to all of us to make it our business to get ourselves educated as to the proper things we should be doing. The internet is full of information we can use to build up our knowledge levels. It is no good blaming the Pope for all that seems to have gone wrong. This ride in faith is scary we have to trust at times and we place our trust in men, like the Apostles the first bishops, who slept when Jesus needed them most.
