Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

Professor Thompson, I want to tell you how much the Annunciation parish in Illinois appreciated your visit this Fall.

All the more so because you were willing to sqeeze in a drive out to the sticks on a very tight and demanding schedule.

We were very excited about your visit and the choir particularly appreciated the pointers and the stories. Thanks for all of the fine work you continue to do for the church!

In Christ,
Michael, that sinner and poor excuse for a tenor

I caught part of that Midnight Mass on WGN last night. I was surprised and pleased to see Archbishop Vsevolod there, accompanied by another Ukrainian Orthodox cleric (don't know who the second man was).

Not only in faith, but also in works, God has given man freedom of the will.

We had 10 liturgies for Christmas and all of them packed, standing and out the doors, now if only the collection would go up lol.

If everyone was as humble as this dear Orthodox Bishop I am sure the schism would end in a day.

I read his book and I ask then what is the problem with being in communion with each other.

I know MANY Ukrainian Orthodox priests who would be OVERJOYED to see their beloved archbishop actually BECOME Catholic...either Latin Rite or Byzantine Rite, it really wouldn't matter. biggrin

Such an event would merit three (!) if it were THAT easily feasible!

The unification of the two largest Ukrainian Orthodox Churches in America into one body as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the USA about 8 years ago was pursued primarily to set an example to the disunity of the 4 factions in the motherland.

Archbishop Vsevolod is/was one of the prime movers for the re-unification of the 4 separate Orthodox Churches in Ukraine.

Then, the re-unification of the Orthodox and Catholic counterparts into one Kyivan Church, in communion with both Rome AND Constanstinople (if that was possible at all) was supposed to be in the next agenda.

Unless the original "mission" to unite the 4 factions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been relegated to the back burner, optimism for the Archbishop's "conversion" to Byzantine Catholicism I think is NOT that rosy, much less his "conversion" to Latin rite Catholicism.

I might be mistaken, though! wink
