An update from my cousin Terry (Jesse's aunt):

Jennifer and Jesse left at 7am EST in a ground ambulance to make the
trip home. Jen is Jesse's preferred parent for the trip which suited
Jennifer just fine since she hates flying. The EMT's offered to let Jen
sit up front but Jesse got upset when she wasn't with him so she's
riding on a board in the back of the transport. Under normal conditions,
the trip takes 12 hours from Memphis to Roanoke. The good news is that
they will deliver Jesse to his house. We don't have an expected time of
arrival since we are hope they are bringing him home quicker than the
speed limit. Chuck is flying at 1pm EST from Memphis through Dulles to
Roanoke with an expected arrival time of 7:17pm.

Here are some specific needs as you meet with your prayer groups
tonight:
- Safe, uneventful Travel. Last night, Jesse developed the irregular,
apnea-like breathing difficulties associated with his type of tumor.
We're praying that he makes the trip home with no emergencies,
especially since it will be difficult to contact Chuck.

- Peace and strength for Jennifer and Chuck as they care for Jesse.
He's coming home with a lot of equipment and everyone arrived in Jesse's
room yesterday at one time to show them how to use the various pieces.
I'm hoping that maybe the EMT in the ambulance can review some of the
instructions with Jennifer if he/she has knowledge during their trip
today.

In addition, Jesse now weighs about 45-50 pounds and bedrooms are on
the second floor. Even if they set up care on one floor there's still
some lifting involved. And of course, there's the emotional strength
that will be needed.

- Health for the family. My parents have Caleb and Emma and they also
made a trip to the Pediatrician last night. Emma has a sinus and ear
infection and Caleb has congestion that is likely viral-based. As a
result, the doctor said neither of them can be around Jesse until their
symptoms have disappeared. Jesse also had congestion yesterday and wore
himself out trying to clear his throat yesterday morning.

- Special prayer for Jen's family. Her aunt's funeral is tomorrow and
Jen's mom's family is traveling in today.

Thanks!

Dearest Friends,

May God and the Most Holy Theotokos visit this little child and his family at this terrible time!

May we raise heart-felt prayers with tears on his and their behalf!!

There is an Icon of Our Lady "Queen of All" or "Pantanassa" from Mt Athos that is invoked for those who suffer from cancer.

Here is an akathist to the Mother of God, Queen of All in English:

www.hometown.aol.com/leoignatius/akathists.html [hometown.aol.com]

There are other akathists to the Theotokos there and, yes, some of which I've written.

I think we should all pray the Akathist to the Icon of the Theotokos that is for cancer-sufferers!

We may pray this or any akathist before the icon of Our Lady of Kazan or any other icon.

May the All-Holy Theotokos pray for us, have mercy on us and save us!

Thank you, Alex. I tried to open the file, but it did not work. I will try again later.

Is the icon of the "Queen of All" related in any way to Kazan?

Also, I was asked to contact you by a group that would like to have a special akathist written. I noticed that I cannot PM you, and I'd rather not post it since it is of a sensitive nature. Is there another way to reach you?

God bless you and your poetic talent!

Are you by any chance a "fan" of St. Ephrem the "Harp of the Holy Spirit"? He is perhaps my favorite Church father.

Dear Gordo,

Here is another site that has the akathist to Our Lady "healer of cancer:"

www.saintjohnwonderworker.org/AKATHISTTOTHEMOTHEROFGOD-HealerofCancer.htm [saintjohnwonderworker.org]

If this fails, if you google "Akathist to Our Lady Queen of All" you'll get it, I believe . . .

It is a different miraculous icon than Our Lady of Kazan.

One may pray the general or any other akathist to Our Lady before ANY icon of hers - it makes no difference!

But I thought that the specific akathist to Our Lady, Queen of All, healer of cancer, would be good for this intention here.

We really don't want to get into what two old English Catholics once talked about, "I, sir, love Our Lady of York!" To which the reply came, "And I, sir, Our Lady of Ipswich!" smile

I apologise for the glitch with my e-mail - please feel free to contact me any time.

I'm really intrigued by the request for an akathist!

Do tell! Do tell! smile

I'm a big fan of St Ephrem and especially his Lenten prayer!

Gordo...

Yes... I know St. Nicholas church - that tiny piece of heaven.

This is all too coincidental and - there is no such thing as coincidence.

Where does Jesse live? Is it near us?

I will meet you at St. Nicholas come Saturday. I am the old guy with gray hair. When I see you I will sit behind you during Liturgy and when it is over - you will sit and talk with me and tell me all about this yes?

And to set your mind even more at ease I am a son of Padre Pio. Not a good one frown but God saddled him with me (which I will tell you about) and so he too is paying very great attention to you in all this.

So don't worry. As it says in Mass ... be ... without anxiety.

Perhaps God will let us know why but you should take this coincidence as a sure sign (I bet you have had many) that God wants you to know that his attention (and Padre Pio) is all to this.

Saturday.

Update:

Jesse travelled back in an ambulance from Memphis to Roanoke, VA. While en route, he suffered severe headaches, and was taken immediately to the hospital in Roanoke to control the severe pain. While at the hospital, the necrotic tissue surrounding the tumor hemhorraged (sp?) and Jesse went into a coma. His lungs are now filling with fluid rapidly, and they do not believe that he will make it through the night.

His mother, Jen, travelled with him in the ambulance. His father, Chuck, ended up getting stuck at Dulles airport. He was devastated when he got the news and just arrived at Roanoke an hour or so ago. please pray for Chuck and Jen as they prepare to say goodbye to their son tonight.

As for Jesse, may the angels and saints come to meet him to take him home to His heavenly Father and to comfort those of us who are left behind to grieve his passing.

God bless,

Gordon

Gordo,

I am having to go back into my workplace overnight for an emergency. I just spotted your posts. I pray that Jesse may soon have his earthly trials over, and that he may also be welcomed by the angels and saints into the heavenly realm. I pray also that the Lord may extend His comforting hand to his family in this especially difficult time.

May the joy that Jesse has brought to all be with you and that you may be consoled that his suffering will be soon over with. My prayers for all.

Father Anthony+

Dear Friends in Christ,

Jesse was born into eternal life at 2:40am this morning, surrounded by his loving family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and were touched by his sweetness and innocence.

Eternal memory!

"Our Father, accept this departed one into Your Kingdom, where there is neither sin nor evil, where Your holy Will is inviolable and Your grace-filled Name is hallowed among the hosts of most pure souls and blalemess angels, and where praise gives forth a sweet fragrance: Alleluia!"

Jesse, pray for us!

Thank you all for your kind prayers.

Kyrie Eleison.

May our good and loving Lord, through the intercessions of His most sweet Mother, the ever-virgin Mary, console all those who knew and loved little Jesse in their mourning.

Sadly,
