Oh my !

St Angela Merici - yes that's New Calendar - and I knew about her [ had to since I was at an Ursuline Convent at School] but an OC St Angela - well what can I say ?

Please - tell me more [ in other words let the education continue biggrin ]

Now I know ,Alex, what you meant when you said Namesday to me biggrin - and oh it's sitting there on my Icon shelf just waiting for an opportunity to go into Town biggrin

Dear Orthodox East ,

Thank you so much.

What a wonderful surprise that was. Thank you both

Anhelyna

Dear Anhelyna,

The really EASTERN thing to do is to choose that St Angela's Day that comes closest to your actual birthday . . . smile

In that case, which St Angela would that be?

Stop fishing Alex - I'm not giving my actual birthday away - but there is a way to find out if you can bring yourself to do that biggrin

Dear Angela,

Happy name day! I was baptized with my grandmother's name 'Angela' (Aggeliki in Greek) and my name day is St. Michael the Archangel. It seems that in the Greek tradition, most Angelos or Angelas are for the Archangels.

Is this not the case in any other (Western... perhaps Italian... or Eastern) tradition? (Alex, I am waiting for the answer! smile )

In Christ,
Alice
