I humbly ask prayers for my Mother, Anne. A few weeks ago she fell and broke her back. She is 86. While in the hospital she fell out of bed and was injured again. She has been on morphine and IV feeding as well as ventilator. She has lost all desire to live. She refuses to eat telling the doctors that she wants to starve to death. She will not walk or speak with anyone in the hospital. My Dad is 91 and lives alone. He is VERY depressed with all this. She has been in the hospital for over one month. My Dad stays by her bed-side 8 hours each day but she will not speak. I ask prayers for them both. Thank you! Silouan, monk

Monk Silouan

You're in my prayers. I know only too well what it is like to care for infirm parents. May our Saviour lighten the burden of you and your parents.

Lord have mercy on your servant, Anne, her husband, and her son, our brother the monksilouan. Bless them with continuation of the strong love that has survived for all their years together as a family.

Bring Anne to verbally share her love with her loved ones. Grant her and this family good health and happiness.

May the Lord in His mercy come to His servant, Anne. May He lift from her the veil of depression and bring surcease from the pain that clouds her very life.

May the Physician of souls and bodies come to her aid, and also inspire her caregivers to uncover ways to aid her into recovery or body and mind.

May the Lord also give your Dad strength, as well as yourself and all her family and friends to remain strong and faithful to her.

Lord, hear the prayers of all your servants, please.

I am moved to tears as I read through your healing messages. My Dad's name is Joseph. My Mom has received the Sacraments of the Church. I thank all of you for your holy prayers.
I would also like to share this advice from a Saint on prayer. It has sustained me in this hour:
"Whenever I go to the chapel, I put myself in the
presence of our good Lord, and I say to him,
'Lord, I am here. Tell me what you would have
me to do.'"

"If he gives me some task, I am content and
I thank him."

"If he gives me nothing, I still thank him
since I do not deserve anything more than that."

"And then, I tell God everything that is
in my heart."

"I tell him about my pain and my joys,
and then I listen."

"If you listen, God will also speak to you,
for with the good Lord, you have to both
speak and listen."

"God always speaks to you when you approach
him plainly and simply."

Dear Monk Silouan,

Before I say good-bye for a while, I offer my hearfelt prayers for both your parents.

Dear Lord, please sustain the parents of Monk Silouan during this difficult trial they are under. Give them faith and strength, and restore health where it is needed...for all things are possible with You oh Lord, for You are a good and loving Lord, a healer of mankind.....

Dear Lord, please grant spiritual fortitude to Monk Silouan too for he bears a great cross as a good and loving son. Let all pain, anguish, and depression pass for this family.

I pray these things in the name of the Most Holy Trinity. Amen.

A Sister in Christ,
Alice

Monk Silouan,
Prayers for Anne and Joseph. May God Bless them for the example they set that influenced your call to religious life.

Prayers for your mother and father who are each undergoing such trials, that in each of their deep pain they might be healed. May your mother receive His healing touch that her will to live might return!
Prayers for strength for all of you,
