Several weeks ago I requested prayer for my anxiety about attending mass at my local parish. Rather than getting better it has gotten worse. I have not been to mass in several weeks. I had a plan of action with a couple other churches I intended to check out. But as it turns out one of those churches only has mass in Spanish (it is a spanish mission parish) and the other one has only one English Divine Liturgy at an hour that makes it nearly impossible for me to get there.
I don't know what to do. Tuesday I have an appointment with my spiritual director. Hopefully he will have an idea or two.
In the meantime I really would appreciate your prayers. Between the anxiety and the guilt of avoiding mass i'm pretty screwed up.
Jason

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on your servant, Jason.
Take away all of his fears. Embrace him with the warmth of your presence and love. Guide him by Your Spirit.
Give Jason's spiritual director the right words to help clarify what actions should be taken so that Jason will have the assurance that he is in God's will and on the right path for him.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray.

Dear Jason, my prayers and sympathies are with you - The Modern Roman Liturgy, basically, is unpredictable, to be kind. I am also (technically) an RC. Until you DO decide where you will attend, remember: 5 Luke 7 :25 But what went you out to see? a man clothed in soft garments? Behold they that are in costly apparel and live delicately, are in the houses of kings. Go and assist at The Holy Mass, for the time being, and be in Communion with hrist, rather than allow yourself any distractions. He will help you decide; don't take your eyes off of HIM during Mass, lest you fall like Peter when he walked on the water. It isn't easy; but, the anwer and opportunity will come. God Bless you through your struggle and journey! - Many Happy Years! - Gv

Remember when we say serve the 'Altar' in the east, we mean to serve Christ for he is the Altar. Now Jason you know I am not temid, and I know you pretty well. YOU CAN DO THIS Confronting anxiety head on, I am learning, is the best way to stop ol' sluefoot from his dastardly deeds In the Name of Jesus of course After all I confronted mine by asking for your help - hehehe - and it worked. Glory to God! Another thing is getting to Gainsville Ga and meeting the couple I spoke of. They are developing a school of evangelization with the blessings of the bishop. Now I know you have great talents and gifts in the area of evangelization. So go for it!!! :p The darkness of this world wants to keep you distracted from your appointed rounds. But YOU are more than a conqurer! Your pesty friend, Pani Rose

Prayers for Jason's peace of mind and soul, that he be granted the insights he needs and the grace to find the direction necessary for his spiritual quest and well-being.

Jason,
We love you here on the forum, and I thank God for the witness of his love that you are for all of us. I thank God for the witness and support you are to all of us in Agape Chat, especially Deacon Stan and myself. God bless you Brother!
Keep on going and growing in the Mighty Name of Jesus... Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen....

Khalid: I am already on several meds for anxiety and depression.
After meeting with my spiritual director last tuesday it was decided I should remain in the same parish but attend a different service. And I am happy to say that I attended mass today for the first time in at least a month! I am deeply grateful for your prayers and encouraging words. This is just a first step but it was a big one. I felt very little anxiety today after I forced myself to go. Thank you all!
Jason

Jason, Last week, our Pastor gave a sermon about not so much learning all ABOUT God (if that were possible here on earth!) but, to BE IN COMMUNION with Him. We all have our worship preferences that help us express our faith, love and devotion; yet, the ultimate goal is to BE IN COMMUNION WITH HIM. Maybe that will help take a little pressure off of you regarding the things that distract you either at liturgy or elsewhere. Keep your eyes on Jesus Christ and try to focus ONLY on Him. One thing at a time; especially THE MOST IMPORTANT - He Who died for us, The Being, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is difficult for MOST of us not to have some anxiety or distractions; you are not alone, my friend! I am praying for you;peace be with you. God love you! - Gv.

Hello Roman
You are not a lone!!!!!!!! I too, know exactly!!!of what you are speaking and feeling.
I wish I had words of wisdom for you but, as some put it, I am not the sharpest knife in the kitchen drawer.
I once read, many years a go, "We think that we are different but we are more the same and alike because we are human."
Sometimes, there are times I feel hope and a sense of quiet and then times, all too often when "Tilk Boh znae/Only God knows!" I feel the weight of every evil I have committed in life.
So , friend, you are not different nor are you alone. I am insignifacant here in prayer. And,from those wiser than I, with practical help.
You, Roman are like me. Two humans leaning on each other and standing on the Lord....kinda like a triangle......I just realized that that triangle is the strongest mathematical/geometric shape!!!!
Take courage!
