I received this prayer request via e-mail with a request to post it on the Forum:

Howard in Pennsylvania, USA -- husband, father, teacher, administrator.
He learned recently that his daughter is expecting a baby, his first grandchild.
He also just learned (he is in his mid-50s) of a serious and life-threatening diagnosis: aortic aneurysm. So an open-heart surgery has been scheduled for July 9th.

His family trace their roots to Eastern Europe and are Jewish in religious background.
He and his doctor have talked this week about the power of prayer.
Howard is a dignified, proud, private, and self-sufficient man who rarely asks for help, but he has asked friends to consider adding him, his doctor, and his family, to our prayers.

SLAVA ISUSU CHRISTU!

Loving Father, we entrust Your servant HOWARD to Your care; guide with wisdom and skill the minds and hands of the medical people who minister in Your Name, and grant that every cause of illness be removed, may he be restored to soundness of health and learn to live in more perfect harmony with you and with those around him. We ask this in the precious Name of Jesus Who is the Christ and Who with You Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns as one God, now and ever and unto ages of ages, Amen.

With out poor prayers,
+Father Archimandrite Gregory

Into your hands, I commend my body and my soul. Amen.

With OUR poor prayers...unworthy though we are to pray for anyone!

+May the LORD JESUS Himself guide the Doctors and nurses toward Howard's healing...to the glory of His Holy Name!

In Christ,
+Father Archimandrite Gregory. who is praying for you all!

I pray for Howard and his family and place them in the loving arms of the Most Holy Theotokos. May she take Howard and his loved ones to her beloved Son, Jesus.

Prayers for our brother Howard, that God will guide the hands of those who care for him in the weeks ahead, that Howard will emerge from surgery a healthier man and grow in strength during his recovery, that in the months to come Howard may joyfully anticipate his impending role as grandfather and, finally, that he may enjoy his grandchild for many years.

Update received via e-mail (edited):

Howard had surgery on Monday, July 12th. He was vigorous and alert in the first post-op hours and all tests so far predict an uneventful recovery period. His family looks forward to the future with appreciation of Howards continued presence with them and they thank the ByzCath community for their generous gift of prayers.

Please continue to lift up Howard and his family and prayer during his recover period.

Just received an update via e-mail. Howard is home from the hospital after his open-heart surgery and doing well (although he is great pain that is not totally controlled by drugs). He will see his regular doctor weekly but will not see the surgeon again until mid-August.

Please keep up the prayers. Howard is very thankful that people he does not even know are praying for him.
