Brothers and Sisters:

Loretta came home from physical therapy for her bulged disc--the same one she has been having problems with since last December--Wednesday and had a prescription for an x-ray. It seems that the therapist found a lump somewhere where there shouldn't be one and her doctor immediately decided to find out what it is. I took her to the hospital last evening after she came from work.

Loretta's family has a history of breast cancer and fibrocystic disease that has killed one of her sisters at the age of 50 and come on each of her other sisters in their early 50s. Loretta is 53.

The bulged disc is still giving her problems and the doctor doesn't want to operate for his own reasons.

Please keep her in your prayers. She has a lot of pain in her neck, the whole process of physical therapy has caused her to lose some strength in her upper left arm, and her right hand is still giving her problems, especially the ability to grip.

Thank God for each of you and thanks.

BOB

Prayers for Loretta's health that she may be spared from this pain and suffering. Also that her family be comforted at this difficult time.

Bob,

My prayers for Loretta, that the disc problem will alleviate itself through therapy and that she will be relieved of the pain and recover her strength. My prayers especially that the lump observed on the x-ray will not be found to be anything that places her at risk and that she will be spared the deadly disease that has caused her family such grief in the past.

Many years,

Neil

Oh, Bob, you and your beloved Loretta are in my prayers. I would not have you join the company of the bereaved...

Loving God, Merciful Father, hold Loretta in your arms and heal her. Guide the minds and hands of her physicians, that their work may bring her to full health and to strength without pain. Pour out your courage and strength upon Bob, that he may know your loving presence and comfort Loretta as only a husband can. You have blessed their marriage with many years of love and happiness; in your tender compassion, grant them many more such years.

"Is there any one among you suffering? Let him pray ... Is any among you sick? Let him call for the presbyters of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven" (James 4.13 - 15).

O Lord, Who sits in the secret place of the Most High, shelter Loretta beneath the shadow of the wings of Your mercy and have compassion upon her.
You Who hears all things, in Your loving kindness, hear the supplication of Your servants.

Grant to Your servant Loretta O Messiah; our Savior! a peaceful evening and a sinless life, for You are a glorious King, and unto You, are our eyes lifted up.

Forgive her debts and her sins; have mercy upon her, both in this world and in that to come.

May Your loving kindness shelter Loretta, O Lord, and Your grace be upon her face. May Your cross protect her, from the evil one and his hosts.

Let Your right hand overshadow Loretta all the days of her life and Your peace reign in her. Give hope and salvation to the all those who pray to You.

By the prayers of Most Holy Ever-Virgin, Mary, your Mother, and of all Your Saints, O God, forgive us our debts, and have mercy upon us.

Amen.

With my poor prayers also,
+Father Gregory

Dear Bob,

My prayers are with you both.

I will be giving both your names, together with others, to my priest to commemorate at the Holy Altar during the Proskomide from now on, and also whenever we have a supplication service to the Blessed Mother of God.

With much love in Christ,
Alice

Bob, your concerns weigh heavily. Be assured of our prayers, and tell us how it is going.

Brothers and Sisters:

Please keep Loretta in your prayers. She hasn't been able to get a report on the x-ray that she had to determine what this lump is that she has. No one has yet told her where it is or what its significance is. It's back and forth between the hospital which insists that it has sent numerous FAXes to her physician, whose office claims that they have never received any. It's a merry-go-round that she can't get off. As a result, physical therapy has ended without any progress because the therapist avoided the area of the lump so as not to make anything worse. Add to all this, the therapist thinks she might have developed a torn rotator cuff in the left shoulder since she started therapy.

Lord, grant Loretta relief and the medical system sanity!!!

In Christ,

BOB

I understand about the faxes that never arrive situation. I had a similar problem once...You may need to ask that another copy of the fax be sent directly to YOU, or you may need to go to the hospital and ask for a copy of your records be handed directly to you. It is so tough to have to deal with the little problems that surround such major illnesses, and ARE so significant to peace of mind.

May the Lord comfort and strengthen you and Loretta and give you His grace and strength to deal with all the difficulties.

Sarah--UIC
