I hesitate to ask, because it almost seems petty and selfish next to all these other great and worthy prayer intentions, but I'm just gonna have to.

Please pray that my flu/cold/headaches go away. I've been absolutely miserable for the past week, and it doesn't help that it's exam week, lol.

So I'd be grateful if y'all could say a little prayer for me and everyone else who has the flu/cold/headaches.

Thanks,
Logos Teen

Dear Logos Teen:

My fervent prayers join yours for the drastic "shortening" of your FLU suffering.

And for me, who is still on the long list waiting for a FLU shot. I am not young nor senior enough to merit the few remaining vials in our area.

(I mistakenly read your "high fever" for your fervor in your RCIA class! wink )

LOL, that's the truth! :p

Not as sure about the denial at the other end of the continuum tho wink

Teen,

My prayers that you will get past the misery quickly. (And that Amado will get younger, or older, whichever suits his fancy biggrin )

Many Years,

Neil

Couldn't resist my brother wink

Dear Neil:

No offense taken as we both are on that outer threshold! biggrin

Only Logos Teen can claim the ebullience of youth, whereas either of us can only lay claim to be "forever young!"

Amado My Brother,

Did you see Archimandrite Gregory's post this morning with a wonderful prayer to grow old gracefully? I've tacked it on the wall. smile

Many many years,

Neil

I did, and thanks to Fr. Gregory for that.

LT:

Nothing is petty when it is a need in the Body of Christ. When you hurt, we all do. Lots of people have been hit with this flu this season.

Lord, let our brother experience a speedy recovery from the flu so that he may return to his family and the activities you have given him to do to praise Your Holy Name by his actions.

LT, may you have a Christmas without the flu. In any event, take care of yourself because so many have had it hang on for weeks on end.

In Christ,

BOB

Teen,

I feel guilty that I didn't notice the reference to exam week. Back in the days when I had Jesuits hanging on my exam marks (and was shocked to discover that having been an altar boy, and knowing the ecclesiastical Latin required to do so, did nothing to guarantee an understanding of classical Latin), someone gave me a prayer to St Joseph of Cupertino. As I recollect, the good Saint was academically challenged when it came to book learning and was about to despair of finishing the seminary. Anyway, the prayer, which I found efficacious or calming (sometimes those are the same thing), and still remember to this day:

Great Saint Joseph of Cupertino
Who didst obtain from God
The grace to be asked at examination
Only those things which you knew
If it be God's will,
Obtain for me a like favor
In the exam for which I am preparing

My prayers for your exams as well.

Many years,

Neil
