I pray thee, O Virgin, to dispel the tumult of my soul and the storm of my grief; for thou, O Bride of God, hast given birth to Christ, the Prince of Peace, O only immaculate one!

(The Supplicatory Canon to the Most Holy Theotokos)

O my most blessed Queen, O Theotokos my hope, guardian of orphans and intercessor for strangers, Joy of the sorrowful, Protectress of the oppressed; Thou beholdest my misfortune, Thou seest my sorrow. Help me, for I am infirm; feed me, for I am a stranger. Thou knowest mine offense: do Thou loose it, as Thou dost will, for I have none other help but Thee, nor any other intercessor save Thee, O Mother of God. Do Thou preserve and protect me unto the ages of ages. Amen.

(Akathist to the Theotokos, Joy of All Who Sorrow)

Praying for you especially this night,
+Fr. Gregory

+Father Archimandrite Gregory, who asks for your holy prayers!

Pentha,

Prayers for you in your hours of sorrow and need, my Melkite sister, that St. Ann, patron of your parish and Mother to our Mother, will intercede for you before the Holy Throne and give comfort to you in the belief that your beloved is in a place of light and love, where there is neither pain nor sighing, near grief nor crying, but only life everlasting. Prayers too for your children, that they remember their Dad with love and gratitude and that, growing, they appreciate their Mom and her struggle to fill both roles in their lives.

Many years,

Neil

I thank all of you for your compassionate prayers. Grief can be like a swirling vortex of quicksand; I am grateful for all the hands that reached out to save me.

Your humble sister in Christ,
Penthaetria

Dear Pentha Tria,

Your writings are so poetic and rich. Perhaps during this difficult time you might draw some peace from journaling. Your lamentations, though full of grief, are very beautiful.

Peace to you, dear Christian soul,

Tammy

Tammy,

I think that is a wondeful idea. It maybe that God is pointing towards a small book on how to deal with greif. In journaling we often see a message or a pattern form that is a clear teaching from God. Something to consider anyway.
