In your charity, please pray for my good friend Brian Downes, who was diagnosed with advanced upper intestinal cancer just before Christmas. His surgery will be at 7:30 am on Monday January 3.

Brian is in excellent spirits and in little pain, and is actually working through Saturday night. Still, this is no simple operation and he can use all the prayers he can get.

With deep appreciation.

O GOD, whose never-failing Providence orders all things both in heaven and earth; hear the humble prayers of Your servants, and direct the hands of the surgeons and prosper their skills to bring about a merciful and blessed outcome of Brian's surgery. Make Brian well O Lord so that he may serve You in his community and heal his from his disease. Calm his mind and heart, so that he may know that You love and care for him...and increase his faith and hope which are in You. Send him the help of his bright radiant guardian angel and may he receive comfort and strength from his presence. May Your most holy mother, the Ever-Virgin Mary be close to him and may she take away all his fear and anxieties. We ask these things through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who with You and the Holy Spirit, live and rule as One God, now and ever and unto ages of ages, Amen.

Joining you in prayer,
+Fr. Gregory

Prayers for Brian, that his surgery be successful and uncomplicated, that his recovery be uneventful and swift, and that God grant him many years in good health.

We are praying today (on the day for his surgery) for BRIAN!

A Prayer Before Surgery

God, my Father, you created Brian and Your care and love have sustained and nourished him all these years of his life. You know the very fabric of his being. Be with him now, he needs you very much, very much. Grant that he may feel Your presence as he prepares to undergo this operation. Help him to realize that he am never alone, no matter how deeply he may feel alone. Give knowledge and skill to his doctors and to the doctors who care for him. Be with him in the coming hours as You have been with him since his life first began. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus, who touched and healed those who needed and believed in him. Amen

In Prayerful remembrance,
+Fr. Gregory

May the Divine Physician guide the hands that work to heal Brian, and may he rise from his bed fully recovered to glorify the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I just spoke with Brian's sister, and the surgery appears to have been successful and without any complications. He's resting as comfortably as possible.

Deepest Thanks To All Who Offered Prayers
