Please remember in your prayers the unborn and pray for our efforts as we publicly sing the Akathist to the Theotokos and then make a procession with the Paraklisis tommorrow night at the State Capitol here in Topeka to pray for the turning of hearts from the abomination of abortion.

This will be our second year. If you can join us spiritually by praying the Akathist and/or the Paraklisis for the ending of abortion this would be a wonderful sign of spiritual unity. I added some specific prayers in the litanies of the Paraklisis for pro-life intentions and if anyone is interested I can provide them with the text. May God bless our efforts.

I will certainly join you spiritually in praying the Akathist to end this diabolical madness.

May God bless your efforts.

What a beautiful gift to give to the Theotokos.

Lord Jesus, bless them for their perseverance in these matters with great success.

Dear Diak,

Good for you - may God bless you!

FYI, there is a Slavonic Akathist that is said by women who have undergone an abortion - I think it is also on akafist.narod.ru.

What do you think of the idea of pro-lifers saying this akathist on behalf of those who have had abortions et al.?

The Pro-Life Akathist was well attended and well received. Subdeacon Randolph did a great job or organizing the whole deal! I was proud to be able to say he is a subdeacon in my parish! Don

Bless me a sinner, Father Don!

And if Subdeacon Randolph can translate the REAL pro-life Akathist into English so that you American Byzantine Catholics can understand it ( smile ), then I'll say, "Now isn't that something?!"

Alex, even in English it was a problem...we did pray for our Patriarch and remembered various saints of the Kyivan Rus. ;-) Don

The Akathist to the Theotokos by Roman wink the Melodist is to the Mother of all who bore Eternal Life itself. So I would argue a bit dear Alex that it is THE pro-life Akathist par excellance.

But now you have me curious to try my hand at the Akathist for women who have gone through that living hell. I'll have to blow the dust off my tserkovnoslavyanskoe dictionary... smile

Dear Diak,

There is also a special Akathist for the Feast Day of the Annunciation itself on that wonderful Akathist-site!

The other Akathist I mentioned is a beautiful penitential prayer of a woman who has had an abortion.

I think we can all pray it on behalf of those women who suffer guilt at having aborted their babies and also those who don't.

Alex
