I dont know exactly how this going to work but what I propose is that we have a rolling prayer thread for the salvation of Europe and its conversion to Christ. By rolling thread I mean that I will post a prayer to be be re-posted (that is, prayed) by subsequent posters for the thread's intention. Sort of like an online prayer chain. I hope thats ok? God in His goodness knows I do not wish to break any rules or try to 'revolutionise' the way byzcath runs its prayer thread. All I want to do is get some support for my people and I can't see where I can expect to obtain any apart from at the feet of the Theotokos. So please come with me there and join me in prayer. New Rome has already fallen do not let elder Rome be taken too. Looking to the east Europe does not hold out hope for the Light of day but sees on the cresent moon shimmering in the night sky. Yet with your help perhaps the Virgin can cause the Son to shine on apostate Europe again. Please, at least try. I remember living in England, some pious Christians refered to the country as Mary's dowry. I pray to her, to reclaim what is lost, and renew the faith in Europe.

Yes, King Richard II consecreated England to Our Lady and gave it to her as her dowry. But the blood of the Plantaganet Kings is spent, those days are long gone and we can only hope her maternal protection is still with us.

If you know of any monastic communities, you may want to write to them and ask them for this prayer intention.
That is why I love monastic communities so much...WHO else has the time to spend completely devoted in prayer for the intentions of individuals and of the whole world?

Dear Myles, First of all, Alice is spoken for - so throw some cold water on your face and calm down please . . .  Isn't the song, "London bridge is falling down, falling down etc. My fair Ladye . . ." a reference to the Danish invasion (those Danes again! ) of London in the 9th century and the "My fair Ladye" is actually an invocation to "Our Lady" for help and protection? In the Christian East, there are four places that have traditionally been honoured as being "dowries" or holy places consecrated to the Mother of God: Kyiv, Diveyevo, Georgia and . . . I forget the last one . . . Jerusalem? And your England was also the first place to receive, from the East, the feast of the Conception of St Anne.
