Greetings Linus

Yes, I was aware that St Linus was the second Pope, tradition tells us that he was probably one of the companions of St Paul spoken of in 2 Tim 4:21.

Also, I think Linus' recitation of St Luke 2:8-14 in a Charlie Brown Christmas, was the single greatest moment in all of TV cartoon history. When the program was being written in 1965, people around Charles Schultz actually told him that "You can't say that on TV" to which Schultz replied "If we don't, who will ?".

You know, some TradLats I talk to on the internet have the weirdest devotion to the Charlie Brown episodes and movies. They say (jokingly...I think!) that the Peanuts movies/episodes are strongholds of the Tridentine Mass. I guess it's some kind of joke; alas, I remain thoroughly confused. confused

This brought an hilarious image in my mind: Peppermint Patty, Marcy, and Lucy, all dressed in lace Mantillas attending a Tridentine Mass and Linus carrying his blanket!

Thanks for the information, though I'm sorry to learn that Charles Schulz is no longer available in this world. God be good to him (and I trust that God is doing precisely that). Someone should reissue more of Peanuts in book form. As to where I've been: probably lost in cyberspace! Do you suppose for us Peanuts fans, Sparky would tolerate a Linus duvet? Incognitus

There was a book written in the late 60's I believe, called "The Gospel According to Peanuts." It used many of Schultz's strips which really did show our human foibles, frustrations, hopes, and dreams in light of the Good News.

It is still available (reprint) thru Amazon.com. If you go to Amazon and type in the title in the search engine, the page that comes up allows you to view parts of the book. It is well worth the look.

One of my favorite lines from the book that always comes to mind when I get frustrated with folks cutting me off in traffic, or jumping in line, or not quite doing their job at work is: "I love Mankind... it's just people I can't stand."

Good grief and blessed holy days to all.

Now that's funny!

I want to thank you all for your warm welcome (although now I probably will never be able to think of St. Linus again without seeing the Peanuts character!).

Not only in faith, but also in works, God has given man freedom of the will.
