Happy Ukrainian Idependence Day !

If you happen to be in the New York City area this evening, you will notice that the Empire State building will be illuminated in 'blue & yellow'- which are the colours of the Ukrainian national flag.

Thanks to the Ukrainian Youth Association's (SUM) Manhattan branch for this great independence day idea.

13 years of freedom and counting. smile

Dear Hrizko,

Happy Independence day to you. Enjoy this very special and meaningful holiday for the Ukrainian people.

I am sooooo close to the NYC skyline, but I am not going that way tonight. Sorry. frown Never the less, I am sure that it will be breathtakingly beautiful!

God bless you and all the people of Ukraine,

Dear Hritzko,

Get ready for a complaint that I have made before!

I would really like to appreciate the sayings of different brethren from around the world, but I cannot if they don't translate for me! frown

Could you please translate:

"Chest Ukrajini - Hotov Boronyty" !

Thanks! smile

Yours in Christ,
Alice

Dear Alice,

I'm sorry. Here is what it means:

" Chest Ukrajiny - Hotov boronyty !
or
"Be prepared to defend - Ukraine's honour !"

It's one of the mottos of my youth group (SUM) which initiated this 'illuminous' independence day 'event' in New York City.

Here is our international website (currently being expanded):

Dear Hritzko,

Thanks!

I am very impressed that a youth group initiated the colors of tonight's Empire State Building! You should be VERY proud of yourselves! smile

Dear Alice,

That illumination stuff is nothing. You would have been really proud of our youth group in 1988 when 100 of us from around the world sang Christian prayers in the Hagia Sophia. This resulted in the Turkish police 'clubbing' and 'yelling' at us until we left. The video we made of this event was one of my favorites.

You mentioned that once before and I must say 'God bless all of you' and that your brave action was VERY, VERY cool!!! smile

With much delight,
your sister in Christ,
